Chapter 16 – The Aftermath
The time of captivity in Theresienstadt has affected Birgit, Bjørn, Jytte, Poul, Rachel and Salle. In their own ways they try to process their experiences. Some by speaking about it, others by trying to forget.

In the immediate post-war years, most families talk very little about the time in Theresienstadt. They try to put the experiences behind them rather than to dwell on them. It is important to move on. But Theresienstadt has clearly left its mark on the six children, who as the years go by each try to process their experiences. In this last chapter, they talk about living with the memory of having been in a Nazi concentration camp.
